The WINGS Signature Leadership Development Program is based on mentoring supplemented with learning opportunities and workshops. The program benefits mid-career professional women. Based on this model, WINGS is well positioned to help marginalized or underserved communities of women; for example, formerly incarcerated women, reentering the workforce, women in families struggling with financial stability or women struggling to improve their employment potential.

There is no other investment that
has the kind of social multiplier effect that early education has.
It is an incredible thing to nurture and watch grow and spread.

WINGS Multiplier Effect

Successful graduates of the WINGS for Growth signature program know how important it is to ‘pay-it-forward’ and, as a result, would like to help others and create a multiplier effect. Therefore, we have developed the RISE program, a Reach Initiative for Social Empowerment.

How Does It Work

RISE offers a partnership for nonprofits with a mission to empower women.
Our partners identify women qualified for a 3- month journey focusing on improving skills and building confidence, with the goal of helping them find meaningful employment.
This mission-critical initiative offers opportunities for women to rise and enter the workforce with higher confidence and an unstoppable drive to excel.
RISE initiative brings our tried-and-true offerings including mentoring, coaching, group workshops, and projects, helping your constituents who have a desire to grow and lead.
WINGS partners with nonprofits that primarily focus on vulnerable and disenfranchised women. The partnership opens opportunities for our mentees to work as Mentors and a leaders with our partners, allowing them to fulfill our goal of creating a multiplier effect.

WINGS’ Partnership with GEAR UP CT

The RISE program, in partnership with GEAR UP CT (GU CT), is our newest initiative at WINGS for Growth. WINGS alumni and volunteers will be mentoring students at Platt High School in Meriden, CT for 3 months.

Mentors, also referred to as "Change Leaders," serve as thought partners for students, or “Proteges”, on their academic journey and help empower them to be autonomous learners and agents for their own change. As the Proteges encounter highs and lows the Change Leaders provide encouragement and inspiration, advocating for the student’s best interests.

The mission of GEAR UP is to ensure students in low income communities have the opportunity, skills, and knowledge to pursue higher education and training to achieve their career and life goals. GU specifically targets low-income communities to provide services, resources, and support beginning in 7th Grade, continuing into high school, and into the first year of college or training.
